When “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” began its first season, Skye was the outsider-looking-in that didn’t particularly like what she saw in S.H.I.E.L.D.
Fast forward one year, and Skye has now joined Director Coulson on his quest to rebuild S.H.I.E.L.D., acting as an integral member of the team while also searching for the answers about her own origins.
We spoke with actress Chloe Bennet about her role in the upcoming season, meeting her on-camera father and much more, so read on to get a hint of what you can expect when “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” returns for its second season next Tuesday at its new time, 9:00 p.m. ET on ABC!
Marvel.com: Now that you’re back as Skye, having come off that first year and getting to know her, what’s it like to explore these news sides of the character now?
Chloe Bennet: The good thing about TV is that you get to spend so much time with the character, but [they] also grow so much since the first season. Skye [now] is definitely not the same Skye that I was playing last year. It’s actually really interesting because when I was shooting [the first episode of Season 2] compared to the pilot, I was thinking back on how different it is to play Skye now than it was to play her in that first episode, where I was at the diner talking to Mike. It’s pretty fun. A lot happened last year, obviously, with Hydra, and she’s grown so much in maturity and in strength. She’s a lot wiser now. She has a kind of quietness and calmness about her, and an inner strength that I don’t think had surfaced yet last year. So it’s been fun to play. She’s a lot edgier, a lot darker, and she feels more grounded to me this season.
