Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. pulled out all the stops for it’s mid-season finale and now, as we’re just days away from the show’s return, there are more questions than answers. What is Skye? What happened to Raina? Where’s Ward? During a visit to a top secret location (Level 7 Clearance, obviously), actress Chloe Bennet took some time to chat with members of the press on what fans can expect as we head into the back half of season two.
Over the course of the next few days, we’ll be sharing our chats with the other cast members which we’re sure only stokes the fires of anticipation. Then, after the first episode back, we’ll have even more for you to take in.
If you aren’t caught up on the show, spoilers lie ahead. Consider this your warning.
On when Chloe first found out that she was an Inhuman.
Chloe: I was in hair and makeup the day we shot it, basically.
No, they told me probably about two days before, but I found out and kept it a secret, which is really impressive for me, like two weeks beforehand. I thought I was She-Hulk for a while, so I’ve been working out a lot. No, they told me pretty last minute.
On if she went back to read the comics once she did find out.
Chloe: Yes. I don’t think I should tell you, which though because I think they’re the comics they’re going to pull from. But yes I did do my research and went and obsessed over Daisy Johnson for a while after.
On if after being announced as an Inhuman has her excited for the movie.
Chloe: I try not to think too much of it because look at her right now. That just sums it up. It’s really cool because the day I found out was the day they announced all the movies, or like the day after. I was like, “The Inhumans movie? Who’s going to be in that one?!” I’m really excited. I don’t know. Obviously, I don’t know anything. If I was going to be in those, they’d tell me like the day of.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ended the first half of Season 2 with the dramatic reveal of Skye’s true 0-8-4 nature, when her inadvertent exposure to the obelisk’s Terrigen Mist set “Daisy” on a course to fulfill her destiny as an Inhuman.
Alas, in the process Coulson’s team took a big hit, as Skye’s transformation process wound up killing Agent “Trip” Triplett. And that bad news is bound to offset any “joy” of self-discovery for Skye, as Chloe Bennet shares in this Q&A. Also: In the slideshow below, get a character-by-character guide to what’s ahead for the rest of S.H.I.E.L.D.
TVLINE | How did you first consume the midseason finale reveal? Did you not see it until the script, or…?
They told me, like, two days before we shot it, and about one day before I got the actual script. So, yeah, that was pretty crazy. [Laughs]
TVLINE | What sort of direction were you given for that final scene?
That was actually probably the most difficult day of shooting I have had up to that point. It was a pretty technical scene to shoot; we were using what we call a “phantom camera” and it was [going to involve] lots of special effects…. I think it was the longest time we’ve spent shooting a scene in the history of S.H.I.E.L.D., but that scene was very important. Fun fact: It looked slow-motion but I was actually moving really fast. From when the “crust” falls off my face to the end of the scene was about 15 seconds.
TVLINE | How would you describe her emotions during that sequence?
There were a couple different versions of it, but it was primarily seeing a dear friend having just died, and having an emotional reaction to that. I played it how I would have reacted, and it’s an overwhelming feeling. This is the first time since Ive changed, obviously, where my powers are turned on by my emotional reaction to things. And that really sets the tone for the rest of the season.

The stars of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” give us the scoop on what’s coming up when the series returns Tuesday, March 3 at 9:00
How will Skye be handling her new powers on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? — Tina
In short, not well. “We’ll see her dealing with the loss of Trip,” Chloe Bennet says. “She feels extremely guilty over that considering he went down there to save her and then he died. It’s a lot of her figuring out that, ‘Oh, when I got upset down there, an earthquake happened, and I keep getting upset and that may be happening again.’ It’s her exploring whether or not it is her that is creating these things, and then her dealing with what she has to tell the team, because people who have powers, from S.H.I.E.L.D.’s perspective, are put on the Index. That’s not really a place she wants to be, I don’t think.”
How is being Daisy Johnson making things different for Skye?
MARVEL TELEVISION BLACK SITE, CALIFORNIA. For “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” star Chloe Bennet, the process of integration into the Marvel Universe has been gradual.
Bennet’s Skye started out as a hacker thorn-in-the-side of the S.H.I.E.L.D. team and, if we’ve being honest, a lot of fans didn’t really love her.
But then an interesting thing happened and Skye became an increasingly integrated S.H.I.E.L.D. agent and proved herself capable of helping save the world and that, plus a new hairstyle, helped viewers begin to embrace the character, while also wondering about her potential secrets.
Well, in the “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” fall finale, Marvel enthusiasts finally discovered who Skye truly is and let’s just say that the excitement has grown exponentially.
Of course, casual viewers who don’t know what an “Inhuman” is and don’t gain any insight at all from learning that Skye’s name is really “Daisy Johnson” still don’t know who or what Skye is and Skye doesn’t realistically know who or what she is.
Early this week, Bennet sat down with reporters on the highly secretive and stealthy “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” set and discussed those revelations and what’s coming when “S.H.I.E.L.D.” returns next week.
But if you’re still in the dark, you may not want to click through and read what Bennet had to say about her evolving character.
“Growing up with six brothers, I’ve never really seen any Disney princess movies like ever actually, so I’ve always wanted to be an action star or action hero more than I ever wanted to be any sort of Disney princess. It’s been a dream for a while so it’s been cool,” Bennet told the assembled press.
For this interview, Bennet was in the rarest of positions for stars of the notoriously hush-hush show, the position of being [relatively] forthcoming. See, thanks to the midseason finale, we at least know certain truths about Skye, but Bennet was doing her interview paired with new cast addition Luke Mitchell and over the course of 14 minutes, there wasn’t a darned thing he could say.
“[T]hey told me probably about two days before,” Bennet said of the fall-finale reveals. “but I found out and kept it a secret, which is really impressive for me, like two weeks beforehand.”
She joked, “I thought I was She-Hulk for a while, so I’d been working out a lot.”
